Master Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers NZ Inc provides consumers with a 12-month guarantee covering:
- advance payment protection
- substandard workmanship.
Advance Payment Protection
Protects you from loss of an advance payment to a contractor, for labour, materials and products where the contractor is unable to fulfill contractual obligations due to liquidation or bankruptcy. It covers:
- Incomplete residential work up to the value of the amount prepaid by you, the consumer, to a maximum of $15,000 inc GST.
- Situations where the company or sole trader have ceased trading, and/or are in liquidation or bankruptcy.
- Replacement (if necessary) and installation of any product purchased by the contractor from pre/part payment made by you, the consumer, that has not been installed and cannot be retrieved from the original contractor.
Workmanship Cover
Protects you from substandard workmanship by a current Master Plumbers member.
It covers:
- Substandard workmanship, irrespective of whether the contract is complete, to be remedied by either the original contractor or an alternative member as determined by Master Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers NZ
- Substandard workmanship that is upheld by Master Plumbers, Gasfitters & Drainlayers NZ
- Work done by the original contractor only
- Labour costs, up to the value of $10,000 inc GST
- Residential work
- Unpaid contracts where the amount unpaid relates solely to the specific work in dispute.
